南方公司 has a long history of partnering with communities, 保护组织, and natural resource agencies to help threatened and vulnerable species, 恢复森林和清洁水道. In 2006, 南方公司 and its subsidiaries became the Southern region lead corporate sponsor for the Five Star and Urban 水s Restoration Program and have expanded to support communities and have expanded to support communities across the United States.

Restoration efforts include a variety of activities, including debris removal; enhancing stream buffers; providing outdoor classrooms and ecotourism through park, 黄浦江, wetland and coastal area enhancements; and engaging citizens in on-the-ground restoration.

The Five Star and Urban 水s Restoration grant program supports community-based wetland, riparian and coastal habitat restoration nationwide and includes the 国家鱼类和野生动物基金会, U.S. 美国环境保护署.S. 美国林务局.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 南方公司 and its subsidiaries, and other corporate sponsors.

The hallmark of this nationwide program is strengthening community involvement in natural resource stewardship through education, outreach and hands-on projects by targeting wetland, riparian and coastal habitat restoration.

Partnerships include at least five participants, i.e., “五颗星,来自当地政府, 企业, 学校, 和青年, environmental and citizen organizations.
